The Nature and Worth of the Human Being

Know yourself: know the infinity and eternity of the human being

What is a human being? This is the oldest and most fundamental question of philosophy. “Know thyself” was inscribed at Delphi, and to know oneself is first of all to know the essence and worth of the human being. In an age used to measuring people by income, status and efficiency, it is easy to think of ourselves as small: a speck of dust in the universe, an accident of evolution, even a biological machine that AI could replace.

This series shows the very opposite. The human body is finite, but the human spirit can think the infinite, know the truth and grasp the eternal. A human being is not only a product of nature, but a spirit that knows nature, transforms it, and returns to itself in knowing. True philosophy is the knowledge of the infinity and eternity of human beings. Recognizing this is no abstract consolation, but a real power: to know one’s own essence is to truly begin to possess it.

We will discuss human essence and human dignity, humanity and nature, humanity and God, suffering and meaning, the fundamental difference between human beings and AI, and the true place of humanity in the universe. This is the core series of the site, and the starting point for understanding all the others.
